One of the northbound lanes of South Kingshighway, between Good Hope and William streets will be closed, beginning Wednesday morning, due to construction in the area.
In addition, Linda Street between William and Good Hope streets will be closed; the right turn lane east onto William from Kingshighway will also be closed, but 90 degree turns will be allowed inside the intersection; and westbound traffic on Good Hope, west of Plaza Way will be restricted to local traffic only.
The street and lane closings are the result of the implementation of Phase I of the Walker Branch segment of the Cape LaCroix/Walker Branch Flood Control Project. The streets will be closed until the phase's completion, which is projected for mid-February 1994.
Cape Girardeau police ask that motorists be patient driving through the area, and -- if possible -- use an alternate route to ease traffic congestion, especially at times of the day when traffic is traditionally heavy.
