"Women as Educational Leaders: Couches and Horses Problematic Images" will be the topic of a lecture tonight at Southeast Missouri State University.
Featured speaker will be Ann Stuart, provost and vice president of academic affairs of Alma College, Alma, Mich.
The event, sponsored by Southeast's women's studies program and the College of Liberal Arts, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
Stuart came to Alma in 1990 after serving as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. She taught literature and composition at the University of Evansville (Ind.) and held academic administrative positions there from 1962-1989.
A specialist in Renaissance and 17th century literature, Stuart also is an expert on technical writing. Her publications include The Technical Writer, a text chosen as the "Flagship Book in Humanities" for 1987-1988, and Writing and Analyzing Effective Computer System Documentation.
She received her doctoral degree in philosophy from Southern Illinois University, her master's degree from the University of Kentucky and her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Florida.
