Two people were taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau following a head-on collision Thursday along Nash Road near Biokyowa Inc.
About 11 a.m., Sheila G. Holloway, 59, of Gordonville, was driving a Honda CRV north on Nash Road, but near a curve, she veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a Ford F-250 truck driven by Robert A. Gramlisch, 25, of Chaffee, Missouri.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper said Holloway veered into the oncoming lane because of inattentiveness, and there was no sign of her being impaired. Although seriously injured, she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Cape Girardeau Fire Department personnel were on another call close by and were able to extricate Holloway from the CRV by cutting the roof off the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital a short time later.
Gramlisch also was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center, although his injuries were described as minor.
Highway Patrol officers blocked Nash Road for about 20 minutes before allowing traffic to continue flowing.
