SIKESTON, Mo. -- Police are investigating a drive-by shooting which resulted in injuries for a Morehouse woman early Friday in Sikeston.
About 12:10 a.m. the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a report that a victim of a shooting had arrived in the emergency room at Missouri Delta Medical Center, according to Lt. Jim McMillen, public information officer with Sikeston DPS.
"A 26-year-old woman said she was sitting in a vehicle with a friend at 889 West Malone when she drove away, heard a loud noise and felt pain in her arm. The driver's side of windshield was shattered," McMillen said.
The woman, who apparently was shot in her arm, continued to drive to the hospital because she knew she was hurt, McMillen said, adding a single shotgun shell was found at the scene.
"Apparently, there was some sort of disturbance just prior to this. We believe this is what led to the shooting," McMillen said.
DPS also received some information from bystanders who were present when the incident occurred.
The woman's arm was treated, and the passenger also had some minor injuries, McMillen said.
"Detectives were on the scene, and we are following up on the investigation," McMillen said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident can contact DPS at (573) 471-6200.
