MOUND CITY, Ill. -- A 92-year-old woman died and two Mound City firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation during a fire at a two-story residential frame building on South First Street here Thanksgiving night.

The cause of the fire was not determined said a Mound City Fire Department spokesman. Although arson is not suspected, the spokesman added that a fire marshal would investigate the fatal fire.

The victim was identified as Ometress Granger, 92, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Union County Hospital. Granger lived alone in the house.

Mound City firemen responded to the call at 202 S. First at 7:52 p.m. Thursday night.

Also taken to Union County Hospital was fireman David Pettit, who was treated for smoke inhalation and released. Fireman Anthony Dover was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
