CLAYTON, Mo. -- A St. Louis woman faces murder charges stemming from a car wreck that killed four people last September.
Dorothy McKeller, 33, was charged with four counts of second-degree murder, St. Louis County prosecutors said Wednesday. She was also charged with involuntary manslaughter, assault and leaving the scene of an accident, and was being held on $200,000 bond.
The accident happened Sept. 21 in north St. Louis County. Prosecutors say McKeller ran into the rear of a sports utility vehicle on Interstate 270 in north St. Louis County and tried to speed away from the accident site.
Witnesses told police that McKeller got off the interstate, ran through a red light, lost control of her car and crashed into a utility pole. The car began flipping over before bursting into flames.
Killed were four passengers in the car, Lafonda Boykin of St. Louis, 32, of St. Louis; Jacqueline Wilson, 33, of St. Charles; and Wilson's two daughters, Latasha Nad, 14, and Chelsea Wilson, 11.
McKeller was burned and injured, but has recovered.
