As she got into her car, a man hiding behind the driver's seat put a knife to the side of her neck. He grabbed her by the back of her neck and pulled on her shirt, then told her to drive north on Interstate 55.

As the car continued north in Cape Girardeau County, the man ordered her to pull off of the interstate. When the car came to a stop, the man started to step out. The woman told police she suddenly accelerated the car, leaving the kidnapper behind.

No one has been arrested, and the incident is being investigated, Schmidt said.
