The Wolfman Jack's Fabulous '60s Party presented by Oldies 100.7 will come to the Show Me Center Saturday evening, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m.
The event will be part of family weekend activities at Southeast Missouri State University.
Four of the best known acts of the '60s will be on hand to perform their hits. Gary Lewis and the Playboys, The Shangri-Las, Dennis Yost of the Classics IV, and The Drifters will perform during the '60s Party.
Wolfman Jack will serve as master of ceremonies.
Gary Lewis and the Playboys saw their first seven releases reach the top 10 on Billboard magazine's top 100 chart. The hits include : "This Diamond Ring", "Everybody Loves a Clown", "Sure Gonna Miss Her", "Sealed With a Kiss", and "Count Me In."
In 1965 Gary Lewis was Cash Box magazine's Male Vocalist of the Year. He won the honor over other nominees such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
The Shangri-Las were among the most popular of the 1960s female groups. Their hits include : "I Can Never Go Home Anymore", "Walkin' In The Sand", and "Leader of the Pack", which stood at number one for 10 weeks in 1964.
During a five-year span that began in 1968, Dennis Yost and The Classics IV had 13 consecutive chart singles, three of which went all the way to number two. Among their top hits are : "Spooky", "Stormy", "Traces", and "Everyday With You Girl."
With eight platinum singles to their credit, The Drifters have become a household name from coast to coast.
