The St. Denis Home and School Association will host a winter craft sale today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the school gym in Benton, Mo.

Crafts, specialty food items, candles and woodworking items will be offered. Door prizes will be awarded. Chili, chicken noodle soup and ham and beans will be served.

There also will be raffle chances sold for a drawing in early 2002. Items to be raffled include a 52-inch RCA television with DVD and a Hewlett Packard computer package.

Masonic Lodge chili dinner served today

A chili dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Masonic Lodge in Jackson, Mo. The dinner is sponsored by the Excelsior Club of the Masonic Lodge.

Quilters Guild raffle for charity, healing

The River Heritage Quilters' Guild recently raffled a patriotic quilt and raised $600 for disaster relief for the American Red Cross chapter. Betty Phillips of Perryville, Mo., won the quilt.

Guild members said making the quilt was a healing process after the Sept. 11 tragedy.

Photos with Santa will help with fuel bills

Employees of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Missouri will donate proceeds from photos with Santa to help the elderly with winter heating costs.

The photos will be taken from 8:30 a.m. to noon today at the Blue Cross/Blue Shield offices on Siemers Drive at a cost of $5 each. The event is part of a series of efforts coordinated by employees.

Masonic dinner planned for Thursday

The Millersville, Mo., Masonic Lodge Westview 103 will meet for a meal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. A meeting of the Eastern Star for officer elections and a Christmas party will follow the dinner. Women are asked to bring a gift under $5. All masons are invited.

Chorus performance sets holiday schedule

The Hearts in Harmony chorus, formerly the Giradot Rose Chorus, will perform at several holiday events in December. The group will sing at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Yule Log Cabin and Winery in Commerce, Mo.

The group will perform at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at cape Residential Care Center and at 7 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Home.

A program of Christmas music is set for 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at Westfield Shoppingtown West Park.

A Christmas party and gift exchange for members will be Dec. 18 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The group will begin rehearsals at 7 p.m. Jan. 8. Regular rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7-9:30 p.m.

AARP Christmas party to be held on Monday

The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. The program is a Christmas party. Members attending are asked to bring a food dish to share and gifts for the children at Blanchard School's Holiday Store.

Library to accept food for fines this month

The Cape Girardeau Public Library will collect food in lieu of fines during December.

Canned and dried foods will be accepted for overdue fines. The food value should be 50 cents per item. All food will be donated to FISH.

Food cannot be used to pay for lost or replacement items or other fees.
