One of the highlights of the Jackson Merchants Association's Spring Fling May 22 was the barbecue cook-off.

The the Ribs category, "Ribmen," featuring chief cook Marcus Wicks, took first place. Second place went to Mercantile Bank and chief chef Mike Klipfel. Gregg Winingar and the Black Dog BBQ team took third.

In Beef Brisket competition, Winnager and Black Dog BBQ took first place. Klipfel and the Mercantile Bank team took second. In third place was Riteway BBQ, with chief cook Joey Loyd.

Klipfel and Mercantile Bank took first in Pork Shoulder, with Loyd and Riteway BBQ finishing second. Just for Kicks BBQ took third, with chief cook Roger Koehler.

In the Chicken division, Koehler and Just for Kicks BBQ took first place, head of the Hawg Pen and chief cook brad Goodman. Klipfel and the Mercantile Bank team took third place.

Mercantile Bank and Klipfel also won the championship in the Baked Beans division.
