Risco High School with 15 winning entries won the Sweepstakes Award for the second consecutive year at the History Day District Contest Saturday at Southeast Missouri State University. About 500 students participated.
The winners in the senior division, grades 9 to 12, from first through third places were:
Historical Paper -- Jason Kasinger, Nancy Wheeler and Adrienne Spears, all from Risco.
Individual Media -- Shawn Conner of Dexter and Amy Marshall and Trey Ackman, both from Richland High School.
Group Media -- Stephanie Landers, Erin Presley and Danny Goin of Risco; Karrie Evans and Bridget Rowe of Risco; and Chanda Burris and Angela Roth of Ste. Genevieve.
Individual Performance -- Rebecca Sides and Jane Dimofte of Richland and Mandy Crow of Bernie.
Group Performance -- Tosha Davis, Tracy Walker, Mary Robertson, Frances Harris and Leon Johnson of Risco, Deidre Brown, Jamie Sides, Krystal Kelley, Jennifer Karnes and Sarah Keller of Richland and Courtney Stewart, Mindy Bridgewater, Daniel Kingree, Cory Hartlein and Chris Vandiver of Bloomfield.
Individual Project -- Racheal Bryan of Bernie, whose presentation on "No More Taxes: The American Revolution" earned a scholarship valued at $2,720 to Southeast Missouri State University; Jennifer Woods of Richland and Erin Holt of Bernie.
Group Project -- Shannon Bennett and Aaron Westrich of Advance, Eric Blair, Jeremy Conner, Justin Wheeler and Ben Eaton of Richland and Brad Goodman and Jason King of Richland.
