JACKSON -- Shawn Michelle Batten, 21, of Broseley was named Miss Jackson at the Miss Jackson Scholarship Pageant Nov. 20.
The pageant was held at the Jackson High School auditorium. Batten, the daughter of Edwin and Shirley Batten, will represent Jackson in the Miss Missouri Pageant.
Batten is majoring in music education at Three Rivers Community College with a vocal scholarship. She plans to earn a master's degree in music education and applied voice.
Runners up in the Miss Jackson contest were Elizabeth Tsahiridis of Branson, first runner-up; Leigh Ann Wilkins of Gideon, second runner-up; Angela Johnson of California; third runner-up, and Bree Owens of Farmington, fourth runner-up.
Heather Verhines, 17, of Jackson was named Miss Christmas at the pageant. She's the daughter of Michelle Chavez and Brad Verhines.
Verhines is a senior at Jackson High School, where she's an active member of Students Against Driving Drunk, Future Business Leaders of America and the Pep Club.
Miss Christmas runners-up were Joni Boyer of Jackson, first runner-up; Stephanie Hammersmith of Fenton, second runner-up; and Dawn Galnore of Jackson, third runner up.
Little Miss Snowflake was Michelle Watson, 4, daughter of James Garrett and Debbie Watson, Jackson; Little Miss Snowball was Carrie Bell, 8, daughter of Connie Bell, Jackson; and Junior Miss Christmas was Chrissie Icaza, 12, daughter of Romario and Diane Icaza, Jackson.
