A woman who felt a draft in her house Thursday night found a window shot out by a BB gun.

At about 10 p.m. a woman living in the 1200 block of South Ellis Street noticed a room seemed colder than the others, said Patrolman Darin Hickey, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

The woman said she pulled back the drapes to see if the window was open and discovered it was broken from what appeared to be a shot from a BB gun or a pellet gun.

The window screen also had been damaged.

"Even though it's a window broken by what was possibly a BB gun," Hickey said, a crime was committed and police looked into it.

Hickey encouraged anyone with information to contact the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 335-6621.
