The 1993 Southeast Missouri Honors Wind Ensemble will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Academic Auditorium on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

The select band of 50 outstanding high school musicians was chosen by audition from 40 Missouri school districts.

The program will include works by British composer Haydn Wood, American composer Vincent Persichetti and Swiss composer Franco Cesarini. The program also will include a traditional German march, "Variations on `A Mighty Fortress is our God'" by Darren Jenkins, and a Donald Erb composition titled "Stargazing," which incorporates electronic sounds into the band's performance.

The ensemble will be conducted by Robert Gifford, professor of music and coordinator of applied music and ensembles at the university, and by Barry Bernhard, the university's director of activity bands.
