Jackson High School senior Mike Williams was recently honored by the Missouri Scholars 100 program, designed to recognize the top 100 academic students in Missouri's Class of 2000.
"This is a significant statewide honor for you and for Jackson High School," said Jim L. King, executive director of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, in his letter informing Williams of the honor.. The MASSP sponsors the annual program.
Williams and the other 99 will be honored April 30 at a reception and luncheon in Columbia.
"I'd like to thank my parents and teachers," said Williams, who has been accepted by Washington University, the University of Chicago, the University of Missouri and Rose-Holman Institute of Technology. He is undecided as to what major he will pursue, but enjoys math..
"I like math classes," he said. "Calculus especially. I also like physics and psychology."
Williams is the son of Fred and Charlene Williams of Jackson.
