Corey Fowler spent his summer, like much of America, watching two baseball superstars battle their way into the record books.
The Cape Girardeau first grader hopes to follow Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa into baseball history.
Fowler is hooked on America's game and wants to be a professional baseball player.
"I watched the news and saw some of the homers," Fowler said. "I think it's great."
Fowler said his success playing T-ball added to his confidence.
"One time I hit the ball so hard I got to go to second base," he said.
Fowler plans to continue his Little League career this summer, the next step on his path toward the Major League.
"I can't think of anything that wouldn't be fun," he said.
But he acknowledged that becoming a baseball superstar will take lots of practice.
"You have to practice a lot of things like throwing, hitting and catching," he said. "Playing baseball is hard work because they throw the ball pretty fast and it's hard to hit it then."
So Fowler plans a rigorous practice schedule to perfect his baseball skills.
"I'm going to practice throwing fast and hitting good," he said. "If you can learn how to do that and win a lot and play the game real good, then you can play in the big leagues."
