The boar is the 12th symbol of the Chinese Zodiac 12-year cycle. According to legend, Buddha believed the Chinese nation was in need of reorganization, so he turned to the animals for advice. When he called all the animals on earth to him, only 12 came, and they came in this order: rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, serpent, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
As a mark of honor for those that came, each animal was honored with a year and contributed its characteristic traits to that year.
As a result, many Chinese believe that the year of a person's birth influences that person's personality traits and mental attributes, plus the degree of success and happiness throughout his lifetime.
People born in the year of the boar are lucky and successful in handling money, business and all academic matters. By nature, they have a deep desire for knowledge and care about family, relatives and friends. Others often take advantage of them because they are so innocent and gullible.
People born in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983 and 1995 all fall under this sign. Famous "Boar" people include Ernest Hemingway and Albert Schweitzer.
