The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 in the St. Francis Health and Education Centre. Guest speaker will be the St. Francis Fitness and Wellness Coordinator Bill Logan.

The AWAKE support group meets on the second Monday of every other month at St. Francis and is sponsored by the St. Francis Sleep Well Center. For more information, call the Sleep Well Center at 339-6900 or 1-800-455-9999.

Obesity has been shown to be a health risk, contributing to a variety of health problems such as heart disease and circulatory problems. It can also be a risk factor for people with sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea.

Overweight people are at higher risk for developing respiratory difficulties, which can lead to sleep apnea.
