Three Southeast Missourians have agreed to serve on the farm advisory committee of Republican gubernatorial candidate William Webster.

Webster says the committee's formation will show his desire to make government a partner with farmers.

Among the 33 members of the committee are Robert Nitsch of Jackson, and Dan Jennings and Peter Myers of Sikeston.

"Government should be a partner with - not a problem for - farmers and rural communities," Webster said. "As governor, I plan to protect farmers' property rights, fight for rural schools, expand agricultural markets and strengthen small town economies."

Gary Heldt of Hermann and Lynn Fahrmeier of Wellington will co-chair the organization.

The group will be advising Webster on rural concerns and will be instrumental in organizing support in rural areas of the state.

Fahrmeier and Heldt noted the main objective of the committee is to work toward convincing others in the rural community that Webster should have their votes.

"Bill Webster has the interests of farmers at heart," said Heldt. "Bill Webster has a solid record of protecting farmers' interests."
