A boil-water order has been issued for two days in Scott City as a precautionary measure after a water main break occurred Tuesday evening.

City clerk Cindy Urhahn said public works employees worked late into the night and were back at the break early Wednesday morning to fix the problem.

"This is a precautionary boil water order," Urhahn said. "When lines are exposed, the Department of Natural Resources requires a boil-water order until appropriate testing can be completed to make sure the water is safe again," she said.
