WARRENSBURG -- Ima West of Warrensburg will be honored April 9 as 1994 Missouri Mother of the Year.
The honors luncheon will be hosted by American Mothers, Inc., Missouri Association, according to Juanita Yates of Monroe City, search chairman for Missouri Mothers.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Family Life Center, United Methodist Church, 141 E. Gay Street, in Warrensburg.
Also to be honored is Patricia Ann Gilderhaus of Belton, the Mother of Young Children representative.
Margie Richardson, president of the group, will preside at the program. Chairpersons for the luncheon are Phyllis Busby and Viola Livengood of Warrensburg.
Wendy Rust of Cape Girardeau, a former honoree as Missouri Mother of the Year, serves on the public relations committee of the state organization.
West, who was sponsored by the Good Neighbors Extension Club, was chosen for the state honor for "exemplifying motherhood to the finest degree." She will represent Missouri at the national American Mothers, Inc., Convention at Salt Lake City in May, where the American Mother of the Year will be selected.
She and her husband, Rowland, are parents of six children. They have six grandchildren.
Throughout their marriage, the Wests have been actively involved in school, civic and church activities, particularly where children were concerned.
The public is invited to the event. Reservations, at $10 a ticket, are due April 1, and should be made through Viola Livengood, 591 SE EE Highway, Leeton, Mo., 64761.
