Wanda Nell Cooper, 89, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at StoneBridge Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 12, 1934, to the late James and Bertha Goad Barker, in Lexington, Tennessee.
She attended grade school in Kennett.
Wanda worked as a real estate agent for over 20 years in Aurora, Illinois. After leaving Aurora in 1990, she moved to Marble Hill and opened up an antique shop in Cape Girardeau, called "Cooper's Collectibles." She ran the antique shop from 1990 until 2005, when she retired. Wanda was well loved by all of her family and highly thought of by those who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Jacky Neal Cooper of Geneva, Illinois; two brothers, James Barker Sr. and Joe Barker Sr. of Glen Allen; two sisters, Linda (Joe) Russell of Glen Allen and Brenda (Bill) Miller of Marble Hill; five grandchildren, Christopher, Tracy, Heidi, Alexandra and Jenna; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a few very close friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Cooper; two brothers, Clinton and Donald Barker; sister, Rosemary Barker; and grandchild, Sarah Cooper.
Wanda's wishes were to be cremated.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Outreach Worship Center in Marble Hill.
The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is assisting the family during this time.
