Adoption of Jacque Waller's triplets by her family became official Tuesday.
Jacque Waller was slain June 1, 2011, by her estranged husband, Clay Waller, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty earlier this year to murder charges. The couple's children, now 8, have been in the custody of Jacque Waller's sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Brenneke, since Jacque Waller's disappearance. Her body was found nearly two years later after Clay Waller led police to its location, and a funeral service was held for Jacque Waller during the summer.
"We just feel like it's a final piece of the puzzle," Cheryl Brenneke said Tuesday of the children's adoption. "We can go on living our lives, and keeping them happy, and will keep Jacque in our everyday lives as much as we can. We're just happy it's all over."
