Walk MS will be held Sunday by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at Capaha Park.
Organizers hope the fundraiser brings in $25,000 for the society and expect about 250 people to walk, according to a news release.
Registration will be from noon to 1 p.m. with the walk from 1 to 3 p.m. One-, 3- and 6-mile route options will be available, the release said.
According to nationalmssociety.org, multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. The cause of MS is still unknown, but scientists believe the disease is triggered by unidentified environmental factors in a person who is genetically predisposed to respond. It affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide.
