The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will hold its annual International Vulture Day celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at 2289 County Park Drive.
Naturalist Sindupa De Silva will conduct the program, set to highlight vultures important role in keeping ecosystems in balance.
Just like human trash collectors, vultures work in the background, during the night or early hours of the morning. If not for them, wed have trash all over the place, De Silva said.
A booth will be set up inside the front door of the nature center, De Silva said. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and visitors are welcome. No registration is required for this free event.
