PERRYVILLE -- The Perry County School District will have two new board members after Tuesday's election.

Seeking two three-year terms vacated by incumbents in the Perry County School District are Tim Rhodes, 42, an aircraft sheet metal worker for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis; Carolyn Pontillas, 43, a homemaker who is active as a school and civic volunteer; and Randy P. Adams, 39, an aircraft spray painter who also works for McDonnell-Douglas.

All three are life-long residents of Perryville.

Rhodes and his wife Sheila have two children in the Perryville School District. Their oldest child is a graduate of Perryville High School. Rhodes has worked for McDonnell-Douglas for 10 years. He has been active as a coach in youth soccer and baseball.

Pontillas and her husband Dr. Job Pontillas have three children. The oldest child is a junior at Perryville High School. The two younger children are enrolled at St. Vincent's Middle School.

Adams has been an aircraft spray painter for McDonnell-Douglas for 10 years. His wife Denise is in her ninth year as a teacher in the Perryville School District.

Only incumbents have filed in the Altenburg Public School District No. 48. Caroline Littge of Altenburg, a retired teacher who has been appointed to the board, has filed for a one-year unexpired term.

Filing for the two three-year terms were Albert "Junior" Boettcher, an Altenburg farmer who has served on the board since 1980 and Roger Schlitting of Frohna, who works for Citizens Electric and has served on the board since 1992.

Two incumbents, Bill Phillips Jr. and Ron Hohenadel, are challenged by Don Barry for two positions as hospital trustee in Perry County.

In the only opposed local city race in Perryville, incumbent Gary Schumer will oppose Harvey Schamburg for Ward 3 alderman.

All other races feature candidates who will run unopposed. Paul W. Dunlap will run unopposed in Ward 1 and Randy J. Leible will run unopposed in Ward 2.

Thomas Meyer will run unopposed in the Altenburg mayoral race. Russ Miesner runs unopposed for alderman in Ward 1 and Michael Hughey will do the same in the race for alderman in Ward 2.

Stanley R. Petzoldt will run unopposed for alderman in Ward 1 in Frohna as will Timothy A. Bohnert in the Frohna Ward 2 race for alderman.

The Biehle race for trustee will feature two unopposed candidates in Kenneth L. Buchheit and Timothy M. Peters.

Bob Eisenhauer and Daniel L. Sebaugh will run unopposed for seats on the Oak Ridge school board.
