Bollinger received the most votes with 48 while Urhahn and Bertrand both received 47 votes. Ramsey gathered 44 votes and Dirnberger received 42 votes.

In August, Oran voters approved the formation of a fire protection district. The directors will set the district's tax rate, which will go into effect in January 1997.

Oran residents now pay 15 cents per $100 assessed valuation within city limits. The new district rate could be as much as 30 cents per $100 valuation.
