JACKSON It's going to be a quiet election this spring in Jackson.
There is only one race in the April 7 Jackson Board of Education election this year, and that's to fill two vacant seats on the board. No candidates filed against the four incumbent members of the Jackson Board of Aldermen seeking re-election.
At the 5 p.m. Tuesday deadline, no other candidates had filed for the school board. That means incumbent board member Jeanette Bollinger will run against challengers Marvin Adams and Mark Martin.
Bollinger was elected in April 1991 to serve out the one-year, unexpired term of former board member Nancy Schaefer, who moved to St. Louis. She is now seeking a full three-year term.
The two candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to the school board.
The aldermen who are unopposed for re-election are: Ward 1 Alderman and Mayor Pro Tem David Ludwig, Ward 2 Alderman Phil Johnston, Ward 3 Alderman Glenn Oldham, and Ward 4 Alderman LeRoy Brown.
In April 1991, there were aldermanic races in Wards 1 and 3 and in the city collector's office.
