WHO CAN REGISTER

You can register if you live in Missouri and are at least 17 1/2 years old.

You can vote in the Aug. 8 primary if you are 18 years of age or older on election day.

Last day to register to vote for the Aug. 8 primary election in Missouri: July 12 at 5 p.m.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Registered voters can vote absentee now through Aug. 7.

The deadline for requesting a ballot by mail is Aug. 2. The voter must specify whether he or she wants a Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, Constitution Party or Reform Party ballot.

For those voting by mail, the absentee ballot must be notarized unless the voter is ill or physically disabled.

* The voter registration office in the Common Pleas Annex in Cape Girardeau

* The Cape Girardeau Public Library

* Riverside Regional Library in Jackson

* The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center

* The Missouri Division of Family Services office at 130 S. Frederick in Cape Girardeau.
