Young Girl Scouts did their part to raise funds, delivering thousands of boxes of cookies to supporters in the Otahki Council area.

Now their adult counterparts hope to raise $37,190 for Scout activities in the 11-county council.

Mary-Ann Maloney, anchor for KFVS-12, is the overall chairwoman of the 1995 Annual Giving Campaign, and Carolyn Goodin is the Cape Girardeau chairwoman. Denise Stewart, executive director of the council, will help oversee workers, too. Volunteers plan to raise money through letters, phone calls and home visits.

Maloney was involved in Girl Scouting as a child and has fond memories of meetings, camp and community projects.

"It was a wonderful experience that enriched my life," she said. "I remember all the fun things we did, and I realize Girl Scouting also taught me responsibility, developed my self-confidence and showed me the importance of helping others."

This is an opportunity for corporations, individuals and civic organizations to support Girl Scouting, said Laura Hinkebein, marketing representative. All donations will be turned in by April 10.
