The Student Veterans Organization at Southeast Missouri State University is asking for volunteers to help demolish the inside of a Cape Girardeau home that will become veteran housing when completed.
The workday will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, and lunch will be provided, said Matthew Golden with the student organization. Volunteers are asked to bring their own ear protection, gloves and safety glasses.
The house at 323 N. Fountain St. was donated to the organization by an anonymous local veteran. While the home is structurally sound, it needs renovations before it can house students who are transitioning from military to college life.
Those interested in helping with demolition or donating food or water should contact Golden at (573) 579-5860 or email msgolden1s@semo.edu.
