Students, faculty and members of the business community will celebrate American Vocational Week through Saturday at the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School.
The national logo this year is "Connecting Education and Career." A series of special activities is planned at the vo-tech school.
Mayor Al Spradling III signed a proclamation Monday recognizing vocational education. On Tuesday vocational school director Harold Tilley was featured on the radio show "Talk of Cape." He led a discussion with vocational students about adult and secondary programs at the school.
On Friday an informal, buffet-style breakfast will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the vocational school. Advisory members at the school will invite friends and associates to join them at the "Bring A Friend to Breakfast" event.
Mayors from the vocational school service area also will attend the breakfast.
Vocational week activities will conclude Monday when vocational school staff and students present gifts to the Board of Education.
