The Community Relations Council of Vision 2000 will present its sixth annual "Awards of Distinction" to 12 organizations and individuals during a breakfast meeting Thursday at Southeast Missouri Hospital. The Community Relations Council of Vision 2000 will present its sixth annual "Awards of Distinction" to 12 organizations and individuals during a breakfast meeting Thursday at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Vision 2000 award recipients this year include Beta Sigma Phi, Boatmen's Bank, Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, Cape Girardeau Public Library, League of Women Voters, Union Electric, Richard Bollwerk, Karen Carr, Steven Green, Kay Jones, Jeff Krantz and Ron Wilson.

The meeting will take place at 7 a.m. in the Harrison Room of the hospital. Guest speaker will be John Mehner, chief executive officer of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

The awards are presented to show that through the special efforts of many people and organizations annual objectives of Vision 2000 are being met.

Vision 2000 Community Relations Council members are Mary Spell, Melvin Gately, David Kaempfer, Allan Bornstein, Ken Emmons, Ann Gifford, Louis Haynes, Dorothy Hardy, Bob Robins, Harold Tilley, Loretta Schneider and Bill Yuede. Ex-officio members are Doug Leslie, John Mehner, Mary Miller and Buz Sutherland.
