The Kansas/Missouri/Southern Illinois Region of Verizon Wireless is currently seeking nominations for its HopeLine Heroes Award in Cape Girardeau. Local agencies and members of the community are encouraged to nominate a colleague, volunteer, friend or family member who has made a difference in the fight to end the cycle of domestic violence, or who has assisted victims of this tragedy within their community. The deadline is Sept. 15.
Nominations should describe the nominee's efforts to end domestic violence, either by directly assisting domestic violence victims, playing an active role in preventing domestic violence, building awareness of the issue in the community or otherwise contributing their own personal time and talent to this cause. Also included in the nomination should be the resulting contributions to the community or to the victims' quality of life. Supporting documentation and photos will be accepted. Nominations should not exceed 300 words. No self-nominations accepted.
Respondents must include the nominee's full name, address, telephone number, occupation, and name of affiliated domestic violence shelter or program. Nominations should be sent to: HopelineHeroes@verizonwireless.com. The winner will receive a plaque and a grant ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 to be donated in the winner's name to the domestic violence shelter or program of his or her choice.
