Various roadwork projects in Southeast Missouri begin next week

Route U in Cape Girardeau County will be closed for part of Monday while Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a pipe. The closing, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will include the section of Route U from Route N to County Road 255.

Highway 72 in Bollinger and Madison counties will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday as MoDOT crews conduct drainage repairs. The section of road from Route O to Route F will be limited to one lane beginning at 8 a.m. Monday. The crews will reopen the highway to two-way traffic after 3:30 p.m. The project is expected to take two days, weather permitting.

Portions of southbound Interstate 55 and Highway 77 in Scott County will each be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday as MoDOT crews perform bridge maintenance. The repairs, to the Highway 77 overpass at Exit 80 near Benton, Mo., are expected to last two days, weather permitting. Highway 77 will be reduced to one lane between County Road 401 on the west side of the overpass and County Road 332 on the east side. Lane closures will begin at 8 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. daily.

Route E in Scott County will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Tuesday morning for bridge maintenance. MoDOT crews will begin work at 8 a.m. and reopen the road to two-way traffic at 4 p.m. daily. The work is expected to take three days, weather permitting. The section of road that will have restricted traffic will be between Bland Street and County Road 327.

MoDOT crews will reduce northbound I-55 traffic to one lane beginning Tuesday for maintenance to a bridge one mile north of Exit 80. The bridge over the interstate will undergo repairs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day through Thursday.
