Variety of programs exist to help students at risk

The Jackson School District offers a variety of programs to assist students.

• Rainbows: Helps students cope with losses, such as death of a family member or a parent's divorce
• Student Assistance Teams: At each building, a team including a social worker, counselor, principal and nurse meet to discuss strategies to assist struggling students
• CALB Club: After-school reading program for fourth- and fifth-grade students who are reading below grade level
• Academic Lab: After-school program for junior high school students for tutoring and other assistance in various academic subjects
• Success Center: Senior high after-school tutoring program
• THRIVE: Groups of students at the middle school, junior and senior high schools who work to improve their school by building on 40 developmental assets
• LIFE Club: After-school program at elementary, middle school and junior high students for building self-esteem, social and academic skills
• Building Strong Families: Social workers provide parents support in building strong family relationships
