MARYVILLE, Ill. -- Police in southwestern Illinois are investigating vandalism at two churches, including one where the pastor was killed mid-sermon last month.

Maryville police chief Rich Schardan said someone broke three glass doors and a window at First Baptist Church. That's where the Rev. Fred Winters was gunned down during a Sunday service March 8.

Schardan said someone also used rocks to shatter a window at St. John's Lutheran Church. He said the vandalism at First Baptist appears unrelated to Winters' death.

Prosecutors have charged 27-year-old Terry Sedlacek of Troy, Ill., with first-degree murder in that shooting. He's jailed without bond in Edwardsville.
