Cape Girardeau
Jennifer Erin Jones was Cape Central High's valedictorian. She was involved in Student Council, Knowledge Master, Beta Club, science club, art club, a member of the National Honor Society, Chemistry Bowl and The Ballet Royale Midwest Performing Dance Troupes. She plans to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, accepting a $10,000 four-year scholarship -- out of state tuition waiver. She is the daughter of Kenneth and Carol Jones of Cape Girardeau.
Emily Ashworth Trueblood, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Trueblood, was Central's salutatorian. Trueblood was awarded the National Merit Scholar and the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs awards. She received the DAR Good Citizen Award, Principal's Leadership Award, National Honor Society Award, Scholar/Athlete Award, Academic All-American in Swimming, second place in calculus at Math Field Day, and was selected to the Missouri Scholars' Academy. She served as senior class vice president and National Honor Society vice president. She was also involved in varsity swimming, the Renaissance Steering Committee, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, letterman's club, and orchestra. Trueblood attended Duke University's environmental field studies program in Costa Rica, and the U.S. Air Force Academy's summer scientific seminars in Colorado Springs, Colo. She worked as an intern U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson's office. She plans to attend Duke University with a major in biology and public policy.
Notre Dame
Amisha Shah, daughter of Arun and Vibha Shah, was named valedictorian at Notre Dame High School. She was involved in National Honor Society, Students Against Drunk Driving, High School Heroes, musical crews, spirit club, Spanish club and Scholar Bowl. Shah has been awarded the Curator's Scholarship from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Bright Flight Scholarship and the Noranda Scholarship. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia as a Conley Scholar and plans to major in medicine.
Jennifer Ann Layton, daughter of John A. and Mary Sue Layton, was named salutatorian. She was president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the spirit club, and belonged to the campus ministry, was a Math Learning Center tutor, varsity cheerleader, and was a member of Student Council, musical crews and French club. Layton was also a member of Students Against Drunk Driving, Scholar Bowl and Chemistry Field Day and Math Field Day teams. She received the Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship, St. Louis University Dean's Scholarship and the National Merit Scholarship. She plans to attend St. Louis University in the Medical Scholars' Program and the Honors Program and will major in art and biology. Her goal is to be a neurosurgeon.
Jackson
Kevin Goodier, son of Vicki J. Goodier and Benjamin G. Goodier, was named valedictorian for Jackson High School. He participated in the marching, symphonic and jazz bands, Chemistry Bowl, Scholar Bowl, Math Field Day, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Spanish club. Goodier has received the Bright Flight Scholarship, Dean's Honorary Scholarship, Washington University Scholarship, National Merit Scholarship and the Wal-Mart Scholarship. He plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis and major in computer engineering and computer science.
Nicole Melissa Schwent was salutatorian. She is the daughter of Timothy and Patricia Schwent of Jackson. She participated in band, peer tutors, French club, Alert, National Honors Society, Just Say No, Chemistry Bowl and Math Field Day. Schwent is also a member of Explorer Post 4077 from Southeast Hospital. Schwent has achieved first chair alto saxophone for the past three years in the Southeast Missouri All-District Band, first chair in the Missouri All-State Band and earned superior ratings at district and state in both ensembles and solos. Schwent has received the Curator's Scholarship, Bright Flight, an Engineering Scholarship and a music scholarship. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and major in chemical engineering.
Scott City
Angela DeLaCruz, daughter of Debbie DeLaCruz of Scott City, and Brandon Swanner, son of Donald and Madelene Swanner of Scott City, were named co-valedictorians of Scott City High School. DeLaCruz will attend the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Swanner will attend Washington University in St. Louis.
Kara Westrich, daughter of Glenda Westrich of Kelso and Tim and Judy Westrich of Cape Girardeau, was named salutatorian.
Oak Ridge
The valedictorian of Oak Ridge High School is Jadie Catherine Eisenhauer, daughter of Bob and Dodie Eisenhauer of Daisy. She is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Excels class, drill team and was a class officer. She has received the DAR Good Citizen Award, was a member of the National Honor Society, president of the Future Homemakers of America, and treasurer of the pep club. Eisenhauer plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia where she received the Curator's Scholarship and has been accepted into the Honors College.
The salutatorian is Kristy Sue Bodenschatz. She is the daughter of Glenn and Sharon Bodenschatz. She attends Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown. She was the vice president of Student Council and the senior class. Bodenschatz has been a member of National Honor Society, Future Homemakers of America, pep club, science club, and Students Against Drunk Driving. She was also in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Bodenschatz also played volleyball and was involved in band. She will attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in social work. Bodenschatz has been awarded the MFA scholarship.
Chaffee
The valedictorian for Chaffee High School was Trae Meyr, son of Larry and Judi Meyr of Chaffee. He was involved in Beta Club, Student Council and was president of Future Business Leaders of America. He was awarded the National Scholar/Athlete Award and was state champion in the long jump. Meyr is deciding between attending St. Louis University and the University of Missouri at Columbia. From St. Louis University, Meyr received the Missouri Scholar's Scholarship and from the University of Missouri, the University Scholarship.
Jamie Wessel, daughter of Michael and Linda Wessel of Chaffee, was salutatorian. She was a co-captain of the cheerleading squad, played basketball, tennis, track, was editor of the school yearbook and a member of the French club. She also was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, becoming District Miss FBLA, and was the fourth runner-up Teen Achiever. Wesssel received the Academic Promise Scholarship and the Leadership Scholarship from Maryville University, MFA Scholarship and the Top Ranking Senior English Student Scholarship. Wessel plans to attend Maryville University in St. Louis majoring in physical therapy.
Delta
Alissa Swindell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Swindell, was named valedictorian of Delta High School. She was awarded the College Preparatory Certificate, The George Washington Carver Award for Excellence in Education, National Scholar/Athlete Award from the U.S. Army Reserve, and the Student of the Year Award from the Delta Booster Club. Swindell also earned the Regent's Scholarship from Southeast Missouri State University, DAR-Nancy Hunter Chapter Good Citizenship Award, Principal's Leadership Award and the Presiding Commissioner's Scholarship.
Michelle Eby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Eby, was named salutatorian. She received the College Preparatory Certificate, The George Washington Carver Award for Excellence in Education, The Procter and Gamble Scholarship and President's Scholarship from Southeast Missouri State University.
St. Vincent High School
The St. Vincent High School valedictorian is Chris Prost, son of Roger and Cindy Prost of Perryville. Prost was a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Drunk Driving, and Student Council. He was awarded the U.S. Achievement Academy Award for foreign language, biology and business. Prost has received the combined President's Ability Scholarship, the President's Leadership Scholarship and the President's Honorary Scholarship from Northeast Missouri State University. He also received a $200 scholarship from the Perryville Elk's lodge. Prost plans to attend Northeast Missouri State University and major in accounting. He wants to become a certified public accountant.
Erica Bohnert, daughter of Dale and Verna Bohnert, was named salutatorian. She was active in Student Council, Pep Club, Spanish club, dance team, pep band, Students Against Drunk Driving and Perryville Youth Chamber of Commerce. Bohnert has received the University of Missouri Grant, University of Missouri Excellence Award and a local Elk's lodge award. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and major in psychology or business.
Perryville
Suzanne Courtois is valedictorian for Perryville High School.
Sarah Schilling, daughter of Harold and Sharon Schilling, was named salutatorian. She was a member of Top 100 Missouri Scholars Program, was president of the National Honor Society, president of the drama club, AAL scholar, member of the Number One Club, and a PSI teen leader. Schilling is also president of the LYF Church Youth Group. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and major in engineering.
Sikeston
Bill Vandivort, son of Clayton Vandivort and Penny and Craig Hahs, was named valedictorian for Sikeston High School. He participated in Quiz Bowl, golf, foreign language club, physics club, was an Eagle Scout and played football. Vandivort has received the Bright Flight Scholarship, Distinguished Scholar Award from Tulane University and the American Legion Certificate of School Award. He plans to attend Tulane University but is undecided on an area of study.
Lien Hoang was named as salutatorian.
Woodland
Erica Lea Camp, daughter of Terry and Stephanie Camp of Marble Hill, was named Woodland's class valedictorian. Camp was in the All-District Band, sophomore pilgrimage, a member of Ambassadors of Missouri Band, Arian Award, Presidential Academic Fitness, a No. 1 rating in clarinet trio and Who's Who Among American High School Students. She received the President's Scholarship to attend Northeast Missouri State University. She wishes to be a general practitioner.
Clara Jones graduated salutatorian.
Meadow Heights
Michael Matthews, son of Paul Ray and Dorothy Matthews, was selected valedictorian at Meadow Heights High School. During high school, he participated in Beta Club, Community 2000, science club, HOPE, band, SOMADD and was editor of the school newspaper, Chatterbox. He was also involved in the Missouri Scholars Academy, Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Seminar, Missouri Boys State, Jackling Institute and the team spirit conference. Matthews has also received the National Physical Fitness Award and has been named in Who's Who, USAA, NMSA, All American Scholar and is a National Merit finalist. He has been awarded several scholarships including the National Merit Scholarship, University of Missouri-Rolla Quality Scholarship, Ceramic Engineering Department Scholarship, Newell Company Scholarship and Bright Flight Scholarship. He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Rolla majoring in ceramic engineering. While attending UMR, he will participate in the Master Student Fellowship Program, Honors Academy, and the Excel and Promise programs.
Tim Grindstaff, son of Doyle Grindstaff of Patton and Richard and Genna Norris of Salem, was salutatorian. Grindstaff was secretary of Future Farmers of America, vice president of Student Council, Beta Club, vice president of science club and participated in the marching and jazz bands. He received the Quincy University Trustee Scholarship to attend Quincy University and major in pre-veterinary medicine.
Leopold
Chris Seabaugh, son of Donald Seabaugh and Bernardine Peters, was named valedictorian of Leopold High School. Seabaugh received the Governor's Scholarship and the Bright Flight Scholarship. He plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University with a major in engineering physics.
David Turner was salutatorian.
Advance
Kristina Lynn Jenkins, daughter of Tony and Liana Jenkins of Advance, was named Advance's valedictorian. She was the yearbook editor, president of Beta Club, vice president of Student Council, secretary of Future Business Leaders of America, reporter for Future Homemakers of America, assistant editor of the Advance Hornet staff, and a member of the German, science and math clubs. she also played softball and volleyball, was a cheerleader and took part in band. Jenkins attended HOBY Leadership Conference and was a recipient of REA trip to Washington. She received the Trustee Scholarship to Christian Brothers University and Bright Flight. Jenkins plans to attend Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn., majoring in history with a minor in political science and pre-law.
Leslie Richmond, daughter of Mark and Pam Richmond of Advance, was salutatorian. She was involved in Future Business Leaders of America, Future Homemakers of America, and the club, science, math and German clubs. Richmond was also a member of Students Against Drunk Driving, was a majorette, played volleyball and softball and participated in band and pep band. Her plans is to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in pre-medicine. She wants to be a doctor of radiology.
Oran
Laramie Klipfel, daughter of Bill and Peggy Klipfel, was named valedictorian for Oran High School. She was involved in Student Council, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America and Future Homemakers of America. Klipfel was a Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference Ambassador and was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She received the Regent's Scholarship and the Lily V. Olson Scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University, Elk's National Foundation Scholarship and the Westlake Foundation Scholarship. Klipfel plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and then transfer to the University of Missouri-Columbia to major in nursing.

Shawnee
Amanda Gail Neathery, daughter of Darrell and Gaila Neathery of Grand Tower, Ill., was selected valedictorian for Shawnee High School. She was involved in Beta Club, band, 4-H, 4-H Federation, was senior class president, a member Student Council, basketball and Youth for Christ. Neathery received the All-American Scholar, Heartland Honors Band, Illinois State Scholar, National History and Government Award, Southern Illinois Society for High School Achievement, Woodman of the World Award for Outstanding Proficiency in American History, U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award and the President's Education Award. She also received the Veterans of Foreign War Scholarship, Southern Illinoisan Tip Off Classic Scholarship, Christy Lynn Schaefer Memorial Scholarship, Shawnee Employees Association Scholarship and the ISAC Merit Recognition Scholarship. Neathery plans to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Melissa Hargis graduated valedictorian for Marquand-Zion High School. Stephanie Braswell was salutatorian.
Zalma
Amanda White, daughter of Connie and Debbie White, graduated valedictorian from Zalma High School. She was state vice president of FHA/HERO, secretary of Beta Club, and participated in Student Council, was the class secretary and a member of the "A" Club. She was awarded the College Preparatory Certificate, Beta Club Harris Leadership Award, I Dare You Award, English IV Award and the Principal's Leadership Award. In addition, she earned the Advance Businessman's Scholarship, Achievement Scholarship and the Housing Scholarship. White plans to attend Murray State University and major in biology and pre-medicine.
Jeane Meyer, daughter of Jim and Mary Meyer of Arab, was selected as co-salutatorian with Angie Sitzes. Meyer was president of the Future Business Leaders of America, Beta Club reporter, Student Council president and senior class reporter. Meyer's future plans are to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in pre-law.
Anna-Jonesboro
Mark E. Boaz, son of H. Dwight and Sandra Boaz, was selected as valedictorian for Anna-Jonesboro. He was vice president of Student Council, treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta, a member of Spanish club, Scholar Bowl, JETS Team, math club, Beta Club, Local Honor Society, National Honor Society, Student Olympiad, golf and the Presbyterial Youth Group. Boaz received the University of Illinois Material Science Scholarship, Illinois Merit Recognition Award and the Mu Alpha Theta Scholarship. He plans to attend the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and major in ceramic engineering.

Kelly
Derek Graham, son of Wayne and Mabel Graham of Benton, was selected valedictorian of Kelly High School. He participated in Beta Club, band, foreign language club and the Church of Christ Youth Group. Graham has received the Wal-Mart Scholarship and the Freed-Hardeman Scholarship. Graham plans to major in accounting at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn.
Kevin W. Brown II, son of Kevin and Diane Brown, was named salutatorian. He was involved in Beta Club, Students Against Drunk Driving, Future Business Leaders of America, foreign language club, chess club, Gifted Education Program and drama group. Brown was the winner of the American Legion Speech Contest, HOBY Ambassador, American Congress Nominee, FHA/HERO Region 6 president and A+ Leadership Conference Participant. He was a two-time state gold medalist and one-time silver medalist in the FHA/HERO STAR Events, and was a four-time School Honors Banquet Honoree. Brown was awarded the Southeast Missouri Sate University Governor's Scholarship and Bright Flight Scholarship. He plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and then pursue a career in politics.
Egyptian
Jeremiah Johnson, son of Kenneth and Lacquita Johnson, was named valedictorian of Egyptian High School. He was active in JETS, science club, Spanish club, Scholar Bowl, Beta Club and First Baptist Church Youth Group. Johnson received the U.S. Achievement Academy Math Award, National Merit Society All-America Scholar Award, was All-Conference in baseball, ALPHA Team, National Leadership and Service Award, "All-South" Baseball Award, DAR Good Citizens Award, Illinois State Scholar, Southern Illinois Society for Achievement Award, Principal's Leadership Award and the U.S. Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award. Johnson has been awarded the Regent's Scholarship and a baseball scholarship from Southeast Missouri State University. He hopes to play baseball professionally and pursue a career as an accountant. He will major in accounting at Southeast Missouri State University.
Todd Honey, son of Glenn E. and the late Linda Honey of Tamms, was salutatorian. Honey was awarded a President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University, where he will attend in the fall.
Scott County Central
David Heed graduated valedictorian of Scott County Central High School.
Jennifer Slipis, daughter of Sammy and Taina Slipis, was named salutatorian. She has received the Dean's Scholarship from Southwest Baptist University, Morley Community Betterment Scholarship, an anonymous scholarship and a church matching scholarship from Morley Baptist Church. Slipis was active in Beta Club, history club, Future Homemakers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, cheerleading, band and was honored in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Her future plans are to attend Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar and major in nursing.
Meridian
Jennifer Miller was selected as valedictorian for Meridian High School. Amy Vaughn was salutatorian.
