Nominations have been announced for awards to be presented in connection with the 1992-1993 University Theatre season.
The awards will be presented Saturday night at the annual University Players-Black Mask banquet to be held at Drury Lodge.
The nominees are:
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Kara Cracraft of Cape Girardeau as Mrs. Kirby in "You Can't Take It With You"; Amy Monfort of Kirkwood as June in "Walking On Our Knees"; Subrina Robinson of Malden as Bell in "Walking On Our Knees"; and, as a unit, Kira Birr of St. Joseph, April Elliott of Lemay, and Tina Schaefer of St. Louis as the Witches in "Macbeth."
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Dan Akre of Billings, Mont., as Dr. De Pina in "You Can't Take It With You"; Jay Cross of Billings as Banquo in "Macbeth," and as Bill in "Walking On Our Knees"; Alden Field of Sikeston as Porter in "Macbeth"; Scott Hamann of St. Peters as Rosse in "Macbeth" and as Mr. Kirby in "You Can't Take It With You"; Patrick Rebmann of Creve Coeur as Boris Kolenkhov in "You Can't Take It With You"; and Troy Young of Scott City as Dad in "Walking On Our Knees."
Outstanding Service on a Single Production: Kara Cracraft and Alden Field sound design for "Macbeth"; Brian and Jeannette Driskoll of Cape Girardeau musicians for "Walking On Our Knees"; April Elliott assistant director, fight assistant director, sound, acting, publicity for "Macbeth"; Diana Mays of Oran costume construction and supervision for "Macbeth"; Brandon Nielson of Cape Girardeau stage manager for "Macbeth."
Outstanding Service for an Entire Season: Kira Birr, Scott Hamann, Brandon Nielson.
Best Actress in a Leading Role: Amy Monfort as Lady Macbeth in "Macbeth" and as Alice Sycamore in "You Can't Take It With You"; and Shauna Thieman of Sparta as Sara in "Walking On Our Knees."
Best Actor in a Leading Role: Jay Cross as Tony Kirby in "You Can't Take It With You"; Alden Field as Martin Vanderhoff in "You Can't Take It With You"; and Patrick Rebmann as Macbeth in "Macbeth."
These awards, along with that for the Unsung Hero, are part of the series established more than two decades ago by two Cape Girardeau business women, Jane Barnett and the late Elaine (Tommie) Davis.
Two other awards, not given every year, are the Critic's Award and the Career Acting Award.
