The University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform the world premiere of a work by Southeast Missouri State University faculty member Robert Fruehwald Tuesday. The University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform the world premiere of a work by Southeast Missouri State University faculty member Robert Fruehwald Tuesday.

The concert, to be held at 8 p.m. in Academic Auditorium, will feature Fruehwald's "Nova Mater," a piece based on the university's "Alma Mater."

In addition, Sara Edgerton, conductor of the University orchestra, will play the cello in the American premiere of Austrian composer Friedrich Gulda's "Concerto for Violoncello and Wind Orchestra.

The concert will feature another American premiere, English composer Malcolm Binney's "four Character Studies from `Master Humphrey's Clock.'"

The Wind Ensemble will close with a chamber piece, Sousa's march "The Gridiron Club," conducted by Todd Ponder, a senior music education major.

The University Percussion Ensemble also will perform.

Admission is $4 general, $2 for senior citizens and students. University faculty, staff and student swill be admitted free with an ID.
