The Board of Regents likely will hire a consultant today as it prepares to search for a new president for Southeast Missouri State University.
The regents will meet in closed session and then hold an open session that begins at 2:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
Consultant Allan Ostar will attend both the closed and open sessions, said Donald Harrison, board president.
The regents tentatively accepted Ostar's proposal at a closed meeting last month, but indicated that the final details still had to be worked out.
Once the consultant is officially named, the regents will look at appointing a search committee.
The regents are searching for a new president to replace Dr. Kala Stroup, who resigned to take a job as Missouri commissioner of higher education.
Southeast currently is run by an interim president, Dr. Bill Atchley.
