UNIVERSITY RECOGNIZES BERGERSON

Peter Bergerson, chairman of the political science department at Southeast Missouri State University, has been named "Academic Citizen of the Year" by the school.

Bergerson was selected for the award by Provost Charles Kupchella after being nominated by Martin Jones, dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

The award has been established by the American Association for Higher Education to recognize faculty members who are contributing to the quality and involvement of the larger educational community.

The American Association for Higher Education will bring together "Citizens of the Academy" from universities throughout the country, to be recognized at a special panel at the association's 25th annual convention in March.
