University of Missouri system cuts 22 jobs

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri system is eliminating 22 jobs in the latest round of cost-cutting ordered by President Gary Forsee.

The eliminated jobs range from an executive vice president to office staff. The 22 lost jobs include seven positions cut in March. The system has about 550 employees.

The move is expected to save the university more than $2 million in salary, benefits and operating costs.

The announcement late Thursday follows an earlier hiring freeze that has left 30 positions vacant. Forsee has also other cost-reducing measures, including restrictions on travel and training.
