Southeast Missouri State University's
department of music will present a public concert on campus Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Academic
Auditorium.
The performance will feature the University Orchestra, Choral Union and University
Choir. The University Orchestra, directed by Sara Edgerton, will open the concert with
a performance of Franz Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony in B Minor."
The two-movement
work is considered among the first truly Romantic instrumental compositions by Schubert.
The Choral Union and University Choir, directed by John B. Egbert, will join the
University Orchestra in performing J.S. Bach's "Magnificat." The piece is composed of 12
principal movements and is scored for five-part choir, orchestra, and vocal soloists.
The concert is free with a university ID. General admission for adults is
$3 and $1.50 for senior citizens and students.
The Choral Union is open to all community and church choir singers, in addition to
university students, faculty and staff members. The Choral Union rehearses on Tuesdays
at 7 p.m.
Interested individuals may contact Egbert at 651-2342 or the department of music
at 651-2141.
