The Cape County Tea Party will host its regular monthly meeting Sept. 15 at Dexter Bar-B-Que, 236 S. Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau.

The guest speaker will be Carl Bearden, founder and executive director of United for Missouri's Future and United For Missouri. He also was elected to the Missouri House in 2000 and served as budget chairman and speaker pro tem during his time.

Both of Bearden's organizations were founded in 2010 "for the specific purpose of educating, communicating and activating Missourians on and about fiscal and limited government issues," according to a news release. He will be speaking about the United For Missouri scorecard and legislative summary.

The group will gather at 5:30 p.m. to eat, and the meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. It is open to the public.
