Union County State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds has been appointed to the board of governors of the Illinois State's Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor.
Edmonds was appointed during a special board meeting Thursday in Springfield, Illinois, according to a news release.
"It is an honor to be elected by my peers, and I appreciate the opportunity to be of service in carrying out my new board duties and responsibilities," Edmonds said in the release.
The appellate prosecutor handles criminal cases ranging from driving under the influence to murder in all appeals outside Cook County, serves as special prosecutor at the trial level and is the training agency for all state prosecutors, the release said.
