The accident occurred when Seiler's westbound car crossed the centerline and struck Adams' vehicle, the patrol said.

"I was in my living room when it happened," said Gerald Huff, pastor of Hahn Chapel. "It sounded like a bomb going off and the house shook."

Traffic was blocked on Highway 34 for more than an hour while crews tried to clear the wreckage.

Marble Hill police, Bollinger County sheriff's deputies, Civil Defense workers, Missouri Highway Patrol and Missouri Department of Transportation employees all responded to the accident scene.
