SIKESTON -- Janella Vandemark, 77, of Morehouse sustained fatal injuries during a two-car accident that occurred at 3:15 p.m. Friday near Sikeston.

Vandemark was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Cleat Vandemark, 80, as they traveled west on Highway 114. Their car was struck by a pickup truck driven by Ronald McKenzie, 21, of Sikeston.

Cleat Vandemark sustained moderate injuries in the accident, and McKenzie received minor injuries. Both were transported at Missouri Delta Hospital in Sikeston.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said the accident occurred after McKenzie failed to yield as he entered the intersection of Highways BB and 114. The vehicle driven by Cleat Vandemark was knocked into a yard near the intersection before striking a house. No one in the house was injured.
