McIntyre had been reported missing Sunday when authorities learned that a vehicle he was considering purchasing was in the floodwaters of the Mississippi River at Caruthersville.

A Pemiscot County resident observed the rear spoiler of the vehicle sticking up out of the water.

Authorities contacted friends and relatives of McIntyre, and those discussions led them to investigate in Steele. Authorities learned there might be physical evidence in a trash container at a business in Steele.

According to a statement released by Lt. Ryan Holder with the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department, when authorities pieced together the evidence they interviewed the two suspects, and the men later confessed to their involvement in McIntyre's death.
