JACKSON -- Traci Tuschhoff and Tiffiney Kies, students at Jackson High School, have been selected to attend Missouri Girls State being held this week on the campus of William Woods College in Fulton.
The American Legion Auxiliary, department of Missouri, sponsors Girls State.
Tuschhoff, 17, is president of Students Against Driving Drunk, and a member of the varsity cross country team, J-Club, Job's Daughters, United Methodist Church Youth Group, peer tutors and Project Hi-step. She is the daughter of Leon and Emily Tuschhoff of Jackson.
Kies, 17, is a member of Students Against Driving Drunk, Project Hi-Step, the Photography Club, Future Teachers of America, Who's Who Among American High School Students, and the prom planning committee. She is the daughter of David and Diane Kies Jr. of, Cape Girardeau Route 2.
Girls State provides training in citizenship. Girls attending may vote and are eligible to hold office.
About 600 girls from the state will participate in this 50th session of Girls State.
